Cheetos and Chapstick

These are the latest greatest new assignment from my Advertisement class, or at least that's what I call it, it's technically called: ADVERTISING CONCEPTS & DESIGN
Most of our projects however are magazine layouts and ads in magazines, so to make it easier to say to anyone who asks, it's my advertisement class. Anyways, here are a few more ads.

When the project was assigned, we were told to take the product and do a 'metaphor' comparing it to something else, and at the time, sitting at home pondering what I should do it on, two products popped into my head. One was Cheetos, I happened to be polishing off an entire bag after dinner, the large puffs are so easy to eat in multitude, and by the end, I had orange fingers, so colored I could have painted a picture with them. So I wanted to incorporate the side affect, in a positive way, the cheeto itself, curled like a smile and the orange fingerprints as the eyes, Cheetos make me smile, and a lot of others I'm sure. "Finger Lickingly Good"

After I had eaten my fill of orange cheesy puff heaven, I usually put some Chap Stick on my lips before I go to bed, especially now with the cold weather, they crack and break, and just last week it was bad enough my lip bleed. I love Chap Stick, its great, its reliable, and it's medicated magic on my lips. It keeps them from turning into an alligator like you see above, so there was the idea. Prevent alligator lips with Chap Stick.

Absolut Ads

The next project we had was the infamous Absolut alcohol advertisement. Our assignment was to take the shape of the bottle, and fit it into another image.

This ad is one of my favorites, this building, made at certain times of the day to look like a wine bottle was brilliant, and with a little tweeking, I made it into the Absolut bottle, as well as my brother is an architect, and had worked in Las Vegas for a few years, and it all led me to believe that, since Absolut is such a popular alcohol that Vegas would no doubt carry in loads, I figured this was a good ad to put Absolut into. Into the actual world, because it is one of the most popular vodka's out there.

This ad, was a little grim, but I think very appropriate. A type of prelude to drinking and driving, I figured if Absolut actually joined with the Ad council to do an ad about driving under the influence, this would be a good way to stick their product in with the consequences of abusing it. I'm sure they would be more than willing to use an ad like this, if not for genuine care about people's wellfare, than at least the mirage that they do as to come off a caring company, but that's just my opinion.

Lisa - Graphic Designer

Hi my name is Lisa Mellace and my anticipated major is Graphic Design. In this post and others I will be uploading examples of my work.

The images below are from an assignment in which we had to choose an Ad council campaign and make our own ad for a magazine.

This ad was about childhood asthma attacks, making people more aware and directing them to a website and a number they can call for more information. We had to include images to really pull readers in, to visually grab our audience, and include both the ad council logo and the sponsor organization's logo. A fish out of water is the best way to describe what it feels like to have an attack, spasms and loss of breath, each time feeling as if you will suffocate, and so on. Asthma attacks are frightening enough, I couldn't image how scared a child would be, who has no idea what's happening to them.

This ad was for the prevention of teenage suicide. I chose this one because someone I knew committed suicide and I was more than happy to create an ad that would make people more aware of the signs and to stop the act before it happens. The bear gives a feel of youth and how sweet it is, the sadness of a bear being destroyed as a symbol for the grim act itself, and several lines that are warning signs that parents and friends should pick up on.
